Neela Israfil resigns from NCP, calls the party 'unethical and a refuge'

Neela Israfil, the party's controversial leader, has resigned from the National Citizens Party (NCP). In an emotional message on her Facebook status today (Monday) afternoon, she sharply criticized the NCP and announced her departure from the party.
In the status, Neela Israfil wrote, "NCP is a political party, where the culprit is not tried, where silence is maintained in favor of the culprit even after a woman is harassed."
She further alleged, "When no punitive action is taken against the person who insults, oppresses and tries to destroy a woman socially; rather, he walks around with his chest puffed up under the party umbrella — that party no longer represents any ideology or justice."
Making her political stance clear, Neela Israfil announced, “I am severing all ties with the NCP from today, from now on. I reject this party. I am for justice, against injustice. Uncompromising protest is my weapon. Even if I walk alone on the path of truth and dignity, I will not back down.”
No official response has been received from the NCP on this issue so far. However, political analysts say that this incident may lead to new disagreements within the party.
Many consider Neela Israfil’s resignation to be a big blow for the NCP, because she was a well-known face and active leader of the party.
