BNP National Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas has alleged that the interim government has made the country's situation worse. He said, "Hasina has played 12 for the country's situation, this government is playing 24."
He said this at a discussion meeting and cultural program organized by the Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangstriktika Sanstha (JASAS) in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan in the capital on Saturday (August 9) afternoon. The program was organized to mark the first anniversary of the mass uprising.
Mirza Abbas said that he has information and evidence of many irregularities, embezzlement and looting, but from his current position, he does not want to disclose it now. He alleged that an attempt is being made to intentionally blame BNP for various anarchy and to make it appear as an accused in front of the people.
He said, “Bangladesh became independent once, in 1971, in exchange for the blood of millions of martyrs. But now many say, ‘This was before, that was before’; in fact, the demand for justice for those who carried out the killings in July-August—be it the administration, the common man, Sheikh Hasina or anyone else—is very urgent.”
The program was presided over by Shawkat Aziz, acting president of JASAS Dhaka Metropolitan South. BNP Joint Secretary General Abdus Salam, Manpower Affairs Secretary MA Malek, JASAS Central Committee Convener Helal Uddin, Shaheed Miraj’s father Abdur Rob Mia and many others spoke at the event. After the discussion, JASAS artists participated in a cultural program.
