Criticism of Fazlur Rahman's statement on July Uprising

A new political debate has arisen in the National Parliament over the statement made by a BNP MP regarding the July Uprising. Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) member secretary and MP Akhtar Hossain has alleged that BNP MP Advocate Fazlur Rahman has insulted the July Uprising through his statement.
While giving his post-budget reaction at the Parliament House on Tuesday, Akhtar Hossain said that there is no scope to separate the July Uprising from the Liberation War. He also said that the budget has fixed an allowance of Tk 10,000 to Tk 20,000 for those injured in the July movement and some of the statements made in Parliament on this issue have hurt the sentiments of the people.
The NCP leader demanded the immediate opening of the July Museum, saying that if there is a delay, there is a risk of destroying important monuments of the movement. He also emphasized on keeping the activities of the July Foundation more active.
Regarding the budget, Akhtar Hossain said that there is a possibility of a large deficit in the current fiscal year's budget, so it needs to be monitored for a year. At the same time, he called for ensuring equal opportunities between government and opposition members of parliament.
