Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Opposition Leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman visited various areas of Banshkhali upazila of Chittagong, which was devastated by continuous rain and landslides. During this time, he spoke to the water-logged and affected families and distributed dry food and financial assistance to them.
After arriving in Chittagong by plane from Dhaka on Friday (July 10) morning, he went directly to the flood-hit Banshkhali area. There, he observed the situation of the homes and surroundings damaged by the heavy rains and landslides for several days. He also wanted to know about their suffering and the necessary assistance from the local people.
During the relief distribution, Shafiqur Rahman said that it is everyone's human and moral responsibility to stand by the people in danger during the disaster. He called on capable individuals, social organizations, voluntary organizations and people from different classes and professions to come forward to help the flood victims.
After his visit to Banshkhali, he also has a program to visit the affected areas of Satkania and several places in Chittagong city affected by floods and waterlogging. The party has announced the distribution of essential food items among the affected people in these areas.
Several days of incessant rain and hilly terrain have caused flash floods in various upazilas and low-lying areas of Chittagong. At the same time, there have been reports of loss of life across the Chittagong region due to landslides and wall collapses. In addition to many families being trapped in water, roads, houses and normal communication systems have also been damaged.

Among them were the party's Assistant Secretary General Maulana Muhammad Shahjahan, Member of Parliament Shahjahan Chowdhury, Chittagong Metropolitan Amir Muhammad Nazrul Islam, South District Amir Anwarul Alam Chowdhury and Chittagong-16 constituency Member of Parliament Mohammad Zahirul Islam.
