Shanta is stepping down from the captaincy

Nazmul Hossain Shanto will step down from the captaincy after the upcoming South Africa series. The Bangladesh captain is taking this decision mainly to focus on his own performance. Cricbuzz, an Indian website based on cricket, reported this news citing a BCB official.
The team management was always optimistic about Shanta's talent. However, this top-order batsman could never be dominant with the impression of that talent. Despite playing several good innings in his international career, the Bangladesh captain never made friends with the bankers.
Shant has been suffering a lot with the bat for the past few months. So he wants to remove the leadership pressure from himself to improve his performance. That is why he has decided to leave the captaincy. Shanto has already told the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
According to Cricbuzz, several senior BCB officials advised Shanto to continue as captain, but he did not agree. Even after the last T20 World Cup, he wanted to leave the leadership of this format. This time he is withdrawing from the three formats. However, the board has not taken a final decision on Shanta's captaincy so far.
BCB will take a final decision on this when President Farooq Ahmed comes to the country to perform Umrah. A BCB official told Cricbuzz about Shanto's absence from the leadership, "He told us that he no longer wants to lead the team after the South Africa series." And Shanto said, "Let's see what happens." Because I am still waiting to hear from the president.
