Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim were the pillars of Bangladesh's batting lineup for a long time. Not one of the three is in the eleven of the second one-day series against Afghanistan in Sharjah today. Shakib and Tamim are already not in the team. Mushfiqur has been ruled out of this series after breaking his finger while keeping in the first ODI.
Not one of Shakib, Mushfiqur or Tamim is in the ODI squad - a rarity since the trio started playing. Some of them were in the team in 310 consecutive ODI matches of Bangladesh. After more than 18 years, the Bangladesh team played the first ODI today without these three players. The last such incident happened on August 4, 2006, just before the ODI debut of Shakib and Mushfiqur.
In 2006, the Bangladesh team went to Zimbabwe to play a five one-day series. The fourth match of that series took place on 4 August, Shakib-Mushfiqur did not make it to the playing XI despite being in the squad. Later in the fifth and final match of the series in Harare, Shakib and Mushfiqur made their ODI debut together.
Out of the three, both of them have made their ODI debut before. From the debut of both of them to the first match of this series in Sharjah, one or the other of the three played in Bangladesh's 310 ODIs. Tamim Iqbal made his ODI debut on 9 February 2007 against Zimbabwe in Harare.
After Tamim's debut, Bangladesh played 180 of the 310 matches up to the first ODI of the series, with Tamim, Shakib and Mushfiqur playing together.
