Shakib Al Hasan was unique in setting and holding records in Bangladeshi cricket. However, his teammates have recently broken two important records.
Record at home
Last month, Taijul Islam took away the record for taking the most wickets at home in Tests from Shakib.
- Taijul's wickets: 170
- Shakib's wickets: 163
- Mehdi Hasan Miraj: 104
Record abroad
This time, Shakib broke the record for taking the most wickets in Tests abroad as well.
Shakib was at the top with 83 wickets so far. Mehdi Hasan Miraj took 2 wickets in Antigua, West Indies, to take his wicket tally to 85 and reach the top spot.
All-time record
Despite losing the record, Shakib is still the highest wicket-taker in Bangladesh's Test history.
- Shakib Al Hasan: 246 wickets in 71 Tests
- Taijul Islam: 211 wickets in 50 Tests
- Mehdi Hasan Miraj: 189 wickets in 50 Tests
- Shakib's contribution is being surpassed by his teammates, which is a reflection of the team's overall improvement. However, despite losing records at home and away, the consistency and skill of his overall career has placed him as the best all-rounder in the history of Bangladesh cricket.
