Despite failing in the first Test in Antigua, Bangladesh defeated the Caribbean by 101 runs in Kingston, Jamaica, thanks to Taijul Islam's spin. Bangladesh also ended the Test Championship cycle with a win. Bangladesh ended the series with a 1-1 draw with this win.
With the 101-run win in Kingston, Bangladesh's Tigers won white-shirt cricket in the West Indies after 15 years. Then in 2009, Bangladesh won a Test from the Caribbean island. Shakib Al Hasan started his captaincy with that series.
To win the Test against Bangladesh today, West Indies had to make history. There is no record of winning by chasing more than 212 runs on this ground. This time, the Caribbeans were targeting 287 runs. However, the experienced Taijul's spin once again showed Bangladesh the way. The hosts were all out for 185 runs in the second innings. Taijul took five wickets.
Earlier, Bangladesh were all out for 164 runs in the first innings. In reply, Nahid Rana took 5 wickets and West Indies were bowled out for 146 runs.
