After a long wait, Leicester City midfielder Hamza Chowdhury of Bangladeshi origin has finally been allowed to play for the Bangladesh national football team. Hamza himself officially announced this on Thursday evening. Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Tabith Awal also confirmed the matter.
In a video message published on the BFF's official Facebook page, Hamza Chowdhury said, "I am going to play for Bangladesh. I hope to see you soon."
It is worth noting that Hamza Chowdhury received a Bangladeshi passport last August. At that time, his mother Rafia Chowdhury received the passport. After receiving the passport, there is no obstacle in his way of playing for the national team in Bangladesh.
Now, Bangladeshi football fans are waiting for Hamza's debut. It is expected that Hamza Chowdhury will make his first appearance for Bangladesh in the Asian Cup qualifiers in March next year.
