South African cricketer David Bedingham could not lead the team to victory despite postponing his wedding. As the wedding day and the final match fell together, Bedingham postponed his wedding date. His team Sunrisers Eastern Cape defeated Pearl Royals in the second qualifier on February 6 and reached the final. His wedding ceremony was to be held on that day, but he changed the wedding date for the team.
The final match was held on February 8, but Bedingham could not perform for the team. MI Cape Town batted first and made a huge capital of 181 runs. In response, Bedingham opened the batting and was dismissed for 5 runs in 8 balls. His team was all out for just 105 runs and MI Cape Town won the title by 76 runs.
Sunrisers, the champions of the previous two seasons, lost the title this time and MI Cape Town established their superiority.
