Indian cricket team's star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming Champions Trophy due to injury. Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selected him for this global tournament, he was ultimately dropped from the squad due to lack of fitness improvement. However, Bumrah has already started working hard to return to the field.
Bumrah posted a picture on social media from the National Cricket Academy (NCA), where he mentioned the word 'rebuilding' for his re-preparation. He is currently undergoing rehab there, which is likely to increase his chances of a speedy recovery.
According to BCCI sources, three experts have been assigned the task of fitting Bumrah. Strength and Conditioning Coach Rajnikanth Shivanganam and Physio Tulsi Ram Yuvraj Bumrah are overseeing the rehab process at the NCA. Besides, Indian team doctor Nitin Patel and other coaches are monitoring Bumrah's progress.
Meanwhile, Bumrah was included in the 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy in June. But he was dropped from the squad at the last minute due to his fitness. According to experts, his back scan report also did not yield the expected results.
A BCCI official said that they wanted to wait for Bumrah's fitness for some more time, but in the end it was not possible for him to participate in the game.
