Joe Root surpasses Tendulkar in new record, eyes now on Ricky Ponting

England star batsman Joe Root continues to touch milestones one after another in Test cricket. With his excellent performance with the bat in the ongoing Test series against India, he has now added two more historical records to his collection of achievements.
In the last match, Root surpassed cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar in the list of highest run scorers in Tests on English soil. His total runs in England are now 7,220, which is more than Tendulkar's 7,216 runs. As a result, Root has topped the list. Tendulkar has dropped to third place.
Along with this, Root has created another big record. He is the first cricketer to complete 2,000 runs in Tests against India at home. At the end of the ongoing series, his total runs are now 2,06, which has taken him to this unique height.
However, Root's record-breaking innings came in a match where he could not score a big score personally. In the first innings of the ongoing Test at the Oval in London, he was out lbw for 29 runs off Mohammad Siraj. He could not survive the review either. He hit 6 fours in 45 balls and made the innings.
Apart from these records, Joe Root now has the opportunity to touch another big milestone. Only Australia's Ricky Ponting, who had amassed 7,578 runs, is above him in the list of highest runs at home. Root is also rapidly closing this gap.
According to analysts, if Root can maintain this consistency, he will permanently establish his name as one of the best Test batsmen not only in England but in the history of world cricket.
