Although the list of foreign coaches in Bangladesh cricket is long, this time a new prospect has been added - legendary Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram.
Since retiring from international cricket in 2003, Wasim Akram has been spending his time as a commentator and cricket analyst. His analysis on TV shows and various media is quite popular among the audience.
In a recent interview with a local media outlet, Wasim Akram said that he is interested in becoming the coach of the Bangladesh team for a short period of time. However, due to his busy schedule, it is not possible to take on the responsibility for the long term.
Wasim Akram said,
“I can work for a few days. But it is difficult to say right now whether I can work for a long time or not. The Bangladesh team has a high-quality coach like Mushtaq Ahmed. Besides, Phil Simmons and Shaun Tait are doing a good job.”
It remains to be seen how much importance the Bangladesh Cricket Board will give to this interest and whether it will be possible to bring Wasim Akram as coach in the short term.
