There is a wind of political change in the country's cricket arena as well. Nazmul Hasan Papon's reign of an era has ended. The news of Papon's resignation was announced today in the BCB Board of Directors meeting. Farooq Ahmed has become the new president of BCB as the successor of Papon.
The future of head coach Chandika Hathurusingh in the Bangladesh team is also hanging. Today, the new president told reporters about Hathuru in Mirpur, 'I don't really know how long Chandika Hathurusingha's contract is. But I remain in my previous position (wishing Hathuru farewell). Now that I have the responsibility. Now I will look for alternatives, I will see if I can find someone better than him, if I can find someone of similar quality or not.'
'Then I will talk to the rest, the CEO is there, I will talk to those who worked before. Then...actually I haven't moved from that position yet.'-Farooq Ahmed added.
Earlier, Hathurusinghe spoke about his future. The Lankan coach, who is currently touring Pakistan with the team, said, 'I have no idea what is going on in Bangladesh (cricket board). Talking about my future, I am looking forward to serving as long as the contract lasts. If the board changes and they want to change, I don't have a problem with that. If they ask me to continue, if they are happy with me, I will gladly do the duty.'
