The entire region, including the northern district of Dinajpur, is covered in a thick blanket of fog. The hardest hit are the working class. They are living in inhuman conditions due to lack of warm clothes.
The Meteorological Office said that the lowest temperature recorded in the district was 12.4 degrees Celsius and the humidity was 96 percent. Due to the fog, people's movement on the roads has also decreased. Long-distance vehicles are plying with extra caution. Locals said that people's suffering has increased due to the cold wave along with the thick fog. Although the sun has been seen for a while during the day for a few days, the sun is not able to spread heat in line with the cold wind.
Meanwhile, a mild cold wave is blowing over Jessore, Kushtia, Tangail, Madaripur, Kishoreganj, Dinajpur districts as well as Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions. In the northern Himalayan foothills, the cold weather has left towns and villages reeling, and public life has slowed down. Dense fog is disrupting air travel, inland waterways and road transport. The cold wind is increasing the suffering of people, especially the poor, who are in great danger. People are running to warm clothes shops in search of a little warmth.
Meanwhile, the number of patients suffering from seasonal flu in hospitals is increasing in line with the cold. Patients and relatives of all ages, including children, are suffering immensely. Experts, including doctors, are giving various suggestions to stay healthy in this unbridled behavior of the temperature.
However, people are not leaving their homes in this cold weather. No one is seen on the streets without necessity. Traffic on the streets has decreased a lot due to the dense fog and cold wind in the morning. The intensity of the cold has been higher in the mornings and evenings for the past few days. In accordance with the government decision, classes have been closed in primary and secondary level educational institutions in several districts.
