Winter has set in across the country, including the capital Dhaka. Dense fog and cold winds have disrupted public life and nature. Even though it is morning, the sun is not visible in many areas. The most affected by the severity of the winter are the uprooted and low-income people, whose daily lives have become more difficult.
According to the Meteorological Department, the lowest temperature in the country was recorded in Nikli, Kishoreganj on Sunday (December 28). The temperature there dropped to 9.8 degrees Celsius. The feeling of cold has become more intense in other parts of the country as well.
The picture of the capital Dhaka, which is shrouded in dense fog, is similar. Roads, buildings and open spaces are covered in a blanket of fog from dawn to dusk. The lack of sunlight has increased the suffering of working people, daily wage workers and transport workers. Traffic is also disrupted in many places.
The Meteorological Department said that the difference between day and night temperatures has decreased due to the influence of cold winds coming from the Uttar Pradesh region of India. Due to this, dense fog is forming in different parts of the country. According to the forecast of meteorologists, such a situation may continue for at least 3 to 4 more days.
The agency also said that moderate to dense fog may fall in some parts of the country from midnight to morning in the next few days. In some areas, this fog is likely to persist until noon. As a result, it is expected that the sun may be late in the next few days as well.
Meanwhile, health risks are also increasing due to the influence of winter. Doctors said that the number of patients suffering from pneumonia, diarrhea and other cold-related diseases is increasing in hospitals. Especially children, the elderly and sick people have been advised to take extra precautions to avoid cold.
