Blockade of railway tracks demanding break in journeys at Rajarhat station

Residents of Rajarhat upazila blocked the Dhaka-bound Kurigram Express at Rajarhat railway station demanding stoppage of Kurigram Express and allocation of tickets.

At 8:20 a.m. on Saturday morning, the angry students blocked the Dhaka-bound Kurigram Express train at the Rajarhat railway station for about three and a half hours under the banner of the combined student crowd at Rajarhat in Kurigram. After talking to the railway authorities, they ended the blockade program with the mediation of the Deputy Commissioner and the army.
At this time, the offer of travel break with tickets was assured within the next one month.
Khandkar Arif, organizing secretary of Rail-Naval Communication and Environment Development People's Committee, member AKM Mostafa Zaman Lelin, convener of Rajarhat Upazila Jubodal Abdul Quddus, coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement Ariful Islam and others spoke.

The program was withdrawn when the Deputy Commissioner, army officers and railway authorities assured to stop the journey within seven days. But till date the railway authority has not taken any effective measures so we have to reschedule. Hope the concerned authorities will accept our demands.
