10 families on the path from begging to self-reliance in Tetulia, distribution of materials for alternative employment

The government is implementing an alternative employment program for the begging community in Tetulia to make them self-reliant. Under this program, necessary materials have been distributed among the beneficiaries in Tetulia.
The distribution program was organized by the Tetulia Upazila Administration and Upazila Social Service Office on Friday (December 26) afternoon. Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf was present as the chief guest. He said that creating alternative employment to eliminate begging is a humanitarian and sustainable initiative of the government, which will help the beneficiaries move forward on the path of a respectable life.
Assistant Director of Panchagarh District Social Services Office Golam Faruk, Additional Director of Rangpur Division Helal Uddin Bhuiyan, District Social Services Officer Anindya Kumar Roy, Tetulia Upazila Executive Officer Afroz Shahin Khasru, Tetulia Upazila Social Services Officer (A.D.) Abu Taher and other officials were also present at the program.
Under this program, materials were distributed to a total of 10 beneficiaries from different areas of Tetulia Upazila. The beneficiaries are - Hazera Khatun of Banglabanda Futkibari, Giaz Uddin of Debnagar Magumari, Nurul Islam of Debnagar Debupara, Abu Hasan of Buraburi village of Buraburi union, Khateja of Shalbahan Guchch village, Riazul Islam of Bhajanpur Bogulahagir, Moshah Moshiron of Bhajanpur Velupara, Md. Nosim Uddin of Debnagar Bangla Chandi and others.
Each of the beneficiaries was provided with a total of 5 shops and a battery-powered van along with necessary goods to run their businesses. This will give them the opportunity to earn money through small businesses or van-driven activities.
At the end of the ceremony, the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the government and the concerned authorities for this assistance and pledged to quit begging and build a respectable livelihood.
