The majority of Israeli citizens have demanded the resignation of current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This anger is directed at Netanyahu for the unprecedented attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023 and his failure to provide security to the country's citizens.
A recent poll conducted by the Israeli media daily Maariv showed that 62 percent of Israeli citizens want Netanyahu to resign. Of the participants in the survey, 29 percent are interested in keeping Netanyahu as prime minister, while 19 percent have no comment.
The survey participants included supporters of the Likud Party, the ruling coalition, and the opposition. In particular, 18 percent of Likud Party supporters are in favor of Netanyahu's resignation. On the other hand, 93 percent of the opposition and 31 percent of the coalition government supporters also made the same demand.
The attack carried out by Hamas on October 7, 2023 killed 1,200 Israelis and took 250 hostages. Since that incident, criticism of Netanyahu's security policies and failures has begun.
There has been strong criticism of the Israeli military operation in Gaza and uncertainty about the ceasefire. 28 percent of the survey participants believe that the current ceasefire will succeed. However, 39 percent believe that this pause will not last.
The survey also shows that if elections were held now, the opposition coalition could win 59 of the 120 seats. Netanyahu's coalition could win 50 seats and Arab parties could win 10 seats. News: Anadolu
