Netanyahu shocked! 77 countries including Bangladesh boycotted the speech

A massive boycott occurred during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech at the United Nations General Assembly. When Netanyahu took the podium, diplomats and representatives from many countries left the session room. The Bangladeshi delegation was also not present in the room during the speech.
Some people on social media claimed that the Bangladeshi representatives were present in their seats during Netanyahu's speech. However, the Israeli media outlet Ynet News refuted this claim. According to their information, the seats of a total of 77 countries, including Bangladesh, were empty during Netanyahu's 41-minute speech.
Among the boycotters were four of Israel's neighboring countries—Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. In addition, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Iran also did not listen to the speech. However, not all absences can be considered political boycotts. Many did not attend the morning session only. For example, Jordan and Egypt took their seats but did not participate in the protests. On the other hand, the Pakistani delegation left the hall but stood outside to listen to Netanyahu's speech.
Representatives from Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, which signed the 2020 Abraham Accords, listened to the speech from their seats. Although Israel's relations with these two countries have been somewhat strained over the Gaza war.
The list of boycotting countries also included Spain, Brazil, South Africa, Ireland, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, as well as several countries in Latin America, Africa and the Pacific.
Israeli officials said the dramatic boycott was evidence that Israel's actions in the Gaza war are deepening its diplomatic crisis on the world stage.
