US is an occupying monster armed with nuclear weapons: Seyyed Abbas Araghchi

Recently, tensions have risen in the international arena after US President Donald Trump ordered the Pentagon to resume nuclear weapons testing. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi called the decision a “regressive and irresponsible step” and described the US as an “occupying monster armed with nuclear weapons.”

On Wednesday, US President Trump ordered the Department of Defense to resume nuclear weapons testing. Trump claimed that the US must also maintain a balance in defense as other countries are increasing their nuclear capabilities. However, Iran warned that the move poses a major threat to international peace and security.

According to a report published in Ankara, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said in a statement on Thursday, “Washington has now transformed its defense department into a ‘war department.’ This reveals its true character. This occupying state is the one spreading propaganda against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and threatening to attack our secure facilities, which is a clear violation of international law.”

He added, “This decision by the United States will have dire consequences for international peace and security. It will not only threaten global stability, but will also open a new chapter in the proliferation of nuclear weapons.”

Araghchi also highlighted the hypocrisy of the United States. According to him, “On the one hand, Washington is expressing concern about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, while on the other hand, it is conducting nuclear tests itself — which is against international law.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Trump wrote on social media before meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea, “I have ordered the Department of Defense to also start the United States’ testing program due to other countries’ nuclear tests.” He also claimed, “Our nuclear arsenal is the largest in the world, Russia is second and China is far behind.”

According to analysts, this US move could create new tensions not only with Iran, but also with Russia and China. The international community is concerned that this decision will have an impact on the post-World War II nuclear arms control system and could further destabilize the global security situation.
