BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has called for staying at the center after voting. Concerned people believe that chaos and conflict have arisen at the polling stations due to his statement. He made this call while virtually joining the BNP election rally held at Dwip College Ground in Noakhali-6 (Hatia) constituency on Monday (January 26) afternoon.
Tarique Rahman said that on the polling day of February 12, one should offer Tahajjud prayers and go to the polling station. After the Fajr prayers, one should stand in line and prepare to vote. It is not enough to just vote and leave, one should stay at the center after voting—so that the account of one's votes can be understood in detail.
He also said that for the last 15-16 years, the people of the country were deprived of voting rights and freedom of expression. Those who took away people's rights have fled the country. However, he also alleged that a new group is now conspiring to disrupt the elections and urged everyone to be vigilant.
Regarding the things to do on election day, he said that Muslims should go to the polling station after performing Tahajjud prayers and offer Fajr prayers and should stand in front of the polling station from the morning along with their brothers and sisters of other religions. The leaders and activists present supported his statement.
At the rally, BNP MP candidate Mahabubur Rahman Shamim Hatia highlighted various problems including river erosion, landlessness and healthcare. In response, Tarique Rahman said that BNP has plans to build block dams and embankments, settle the landless on private land and upgrade the Upazila Health Complex to 150 beds, which will be implemented if the government is formed.
At the end of the rally, the field became festive with the presence of thousands of leaders and activists. However, the call to stay at the center after the vote is feared that the law and order situation on election day may complicate the situation.
