Pakistan has never had a record of winning by chasing more than 350 runs. As a result, The Green Men were under a lot of mental pressure from the start when they started chasing the target. The hosts lost three wickets before the team reached three figures. Despite going a little on the backfoot, Pakistan finally won with the brilliant batting of Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agar.
They put on 260 runs for the fourth wicket. Which is the third highest for any wicket in ODIs for the team. Rizwan left the field unbeaten on 122 runs on the day and led the team to victory. Salman also scored 134 runs off 103 balls.
After such a victory, Rizwan said, ‘If Allah wills, record after record is set. We wanted to keep them within 320 runs. However, Klaasen (87 runs) took it to 350. During the break in the match, Khushdil Shah was saying, "We have chased such runs before. Some said we have chased 340 runs."
Urging improvement in fielding, he commented, "We need to improve in fielding. Hopefully, we can do that. Because, this is how champion teams play."
